Carparks close to CAZ zone:
For anyone driving to the city from the south or coming off of the A1 Western Bypass - the High Level Bridge Car Park ("HLCP") at NE8 2AB may be the perfect option. Located just on the south side of the High Level Bridge, it is a short 5 minute walk to cross over to St Nicholas Cathedral, the Cloth Market and Grey Street. This may save you time and money as you avoid all the traffic driving into the city and queues to find a parking place. The HLCP car park also offers one of the cheapest parking fees on our list for regular users.
In the morning, the drive up Askew Road from the A1 Western Bypass to the HLCP is probably the quickest route to any city car park.
And at just £70 per month for 7 days a week and 24/7 parking, the HLCP would appear to be one of the best rates available for car parking.
For anyone driving to the city centre from the north, parking may be more difficult unless you are willing to get on the metro or use a taxi.
Newcastle and Gateshead both offer Park & Ride parking facilities - which can be found here - https://www.nexus.org.uk/metro-park-and-ride-stations
Most Large carparks inside of the city are inside of the clean air zone (CAZ).
Apart from the HLCP, other carparks on the perimeter of the CAZ include:
Sand Gate Car Park - NE1 2NG
Claremont Road Car Park - NE2 4AA
Arena Square Car Park - NE4 7AD
Quayside Multi Storey Car Park - NE1 2HJ
Manors Multi Storey Car Park - NE1 2BN
